Pulled Under, Floating and Drowning

Pulled Under, Floating, and Drowning investigates the experience of being caught in an undertow and how that mirrors the reality of a refugee, tossed and tumbled through an unyielding cycle of uncertainty and danger. Research for the piece draws heavily on the worldwide refugee crisis, particularly following the events of the Arab Spring of 2010-2012 and the ongoing Syrian Civil War, which has yielded over 13 million Syrian refugees. Pulled Under, Floating, and Drowning is a series of works in three parts: Pulled Under, Floating, and Drowning (2018), The Sea (2019), and Your Land (2020 - yet to be shown due to the COVID pandemic).
